Purses – we as women are somewhat obsessed with them. We have a purse “ministry” based out of Swaziland. Go-go’s over in Swazi make these beautiful purses, we sell them to visiting teams and here in the U.S. The Go-go’s are able to earn a salary, and we are able to carry a chic purse. Simply carrying the purses opens many doors to discuss the plight of the people of Swazi and it often gives me a chance to do some ministry.

I had a purse party/support raising/Prayer Session last night. My friend Farrah invited me to speak to the women of her small group. What a night it turned out to be.

There were squeals of delight, oohs, and ahhs as the ladies perused through the purses and we discussed the Timbali Craft project. (www.timbalicrafts.org) I was able to talk about my experiences in Swazi and my upcoming trip to Haiti.

Although playing with the purses was fun, the highlight of our evening was prayer. One of the ladies attending the party has been very ill the last few months. We were able to come together to pray over her and the Holy Spirit was evident in the room. The atmosphere changed from party to warfare as we bombarded heaven on her behalf. The prayers didn’t stop with her. Discussion began with a few of us and we went to the Lord for each other. Tears were shed and laughter was flowing as we stood on the promises of the Lord together.  I marvel that I can go into a room of people that I don’t know and things just flow so easily. This is always true when your common bond is the Lord.

We had a great time and several of the women surprised me with financial donations and donations of some of the items that I need to take to Haiti. I did a happy dance over an entire case of baby wipes!!!! If you have ever been to a third world country and lived without a Western bathroom, you will know why I am so excited. I will be living in a tent for 2 months and I have no idea how often I will be able to be at the base to take a real shower. Baby Wipes are a Lifesaver!! I now have all of the major items needed for the trip. (still lacking about $1500) THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all of you who have given items, finances and have taken the time to pray for me and share with your friends my needs.  The Lord continues to blow my mind with how He uses YOU to keep me encouraged and uplifted as I am endeavoring to share the gospel all over the world.

Blessings to all!  One week until I leave for Haiti
