Yes Kelsey, I DO like white people…

Thus began an endless round of laughter in our offices last week.  Someone asked me how my day was and I responded – I’m having an I don’t like people day, today. Kelsey immediately turns around and says “Did you just say you don’t like white people?” “Should I be offended?”

Those of you who know me can probably imagine all of the sarcastic remarks that came to mind. For those of you who don’t, let it suffice to say that I love all people of all races and ethnicities… and white people in particular 🙂

The purpose of this funny story is to introduce you to our resident Beauty Queen – Kelsey Hinkley. Beauty Queen is my name for her, I wouldn’t want you thinking that she’s vain or anything. 🙂

Kelsey is one of my 11 housemates and one of the 4 of us downstairs in 1075-B. I started calling her Beauty Queen because that’s what I think when I see her. I also have come to learn that if I don’t come up with a nickname for you, it means I don’t like you very much. Lucky for you Kelsey, I came up with your nickname a few days after we met. Seems like God has something in store for us down the road… I digress…

When we think of Beauty Queens, we tend to only see the outer shell of the person. With most of the people who are in Beauty Pageants, there is a lot more to them than meets the eye.

Kelsey is copassionate, loving, funny, smart and cute to boot. She is an phenomenal cook – I blamed her and her dip for my four pound weight gain my first week here. (Fortunately I did lose it – the weight not the food!) I ate her dip and chips for 3 days straight until it was gone.  Aside from all of the usual mumbo jumbo, she loves God with her whole heart and I believe that she is really seeking His plan for her life. She has a heart the size of the U.S. and is always willing to go the extra mile for you. This is even if she doesn’t feel like it.

While she is almost half my age I believe there are still some things that I can learn from her. She has already faced many challenges here at Com Life and continues to keep a smile on her face and seek God’s will through it all. I am honored to share this season of my life with her and look forward to all the fun and chaos we can cause downstairs in the ComLife house.
                                                                         Love you Kelsey.

I could go on and on but you can read more about Kelsey on her blog.  http://kelseyhinkley.myadventures.org
