Another week of ministry has come and gone. I have been here a month and it’s hard to believe. The Lord has done so much in a short amount of time.

Once again, I am amazed at what He is doing in me. Sometimes as a missionary you feel that you are going off to do some great work for the Lord. While this may be a bit true, most of the time, the Lord is using what you see and do, to accomplish some major work He wants to do in you.I teach this to my participants all the time. Sometimes, I forget that I have my own lessons to learn until I am in the midst of them. When you are in the midst of community, harsh conditions and poverty all around, buried things seem to rise to the surface in your life. There are some things that I thought I had dealt with that have come up and clearly I haven’t worked it all out yet. So the Lord and I have had some discussions, and there are many more to come.
Pray that I deal with what the Lord is showing me and not choose to bury it again. I don’t want to stay in Egypt 40 years. At some point I want to see the promised land. Pray for all of our participants and the people of Haiti.  Here are a few pictures from our work here.

Translated – How can we pray for you. One of my teams did a prayer station in the alley near a church. We prayed for dozens and dozens of people in a few hours.

  1. Hi Toya,

Thanks for the update! And thanks once again for leading our group a few weeks ago!

The Allegan team reported their experiences this Sunday morning, and your name came up a couple of times. One of our guests said it was amazing to see eight people who had so obviously been changed forever by their experiences in Haiti.

When I asked who was interested in going with the team to Haiti in 2011, there were five people who stood. Afterwards, there were a couple of more. So our group will double in size next year.

The team prepared lunch for everyone, and we had planned to have room temperature water. But, one of the kitchen crew filled the container with ice cubes. When I pointed out that we were trying to share a little of what it was like to serve in Haiti, Ardith spoke up and said she couldn’t survive a week in Haiti without an ice cold soda. I told her that if the Lord called her to go that we knew someone who could get her a cold Dr. Pepper and Kelley yelled WHOO HOO!

Funny how such small things make such lasting memories!

    THANKS!

May God continue to bless you!

  2. So good to hear what the Lord’s been showing you and to see the pics. Joe and I will head to the Blackfeet rez in MT day after tomorrow, and then to Fort Berthold in ND and the Colville rez in WA. Yep, the Lord allowed me to go, with oxygen tanks in tow!! We spent a few days with family in CO on the way out, and now we’re in Jackson, WY, with the family Michael and Zach will be with all summer.

    Love and miss you,
    Sue
