After a few drama filled days and a slight panic attack with our passports being at the embassy during a snowstorm in DC, we have made it to Cameroon!

I could not be more excited. As the plane was descending, my excitement grew. This country has a hold on me. I knew I loved it but it still astounds me at how much I can be in love with a place that is so different from what I know and on a continent that I never wanted to visit. This is what happens when you allow God to be in control!

We lost our day in Paris. We originally had a 24 hour layover in Paris that we were not crying about one bit, but because of the delay with our visa’s we had to change our flight and ended up with a 4 hour layover instead. Cynthia has never been out of the U.S. so we had to go out of customs so that the first stamp in her passport would be from Paris! We had a good time. The security guys were fun and it was a joy to see her face full of sheer delight.

Neither of us know why we are taking this journey together at this time but we do know that it’s the Lord. It has been fun so far. We were immediately thrown into the fire after arriving Sat. evening and being informed that we would be going to church and speaking the next morning at 7:30 a.m.!! With jet lag and the time difference, we knew it was going to be interesting. (1:00 a.m. our time, after flying for more than 24 hours!) After being up most of the night, we both overslept and did not wake up until we heard the banging on our door at 6:45! OOOPS!!! We were late to church but all was forgiven.

We are in the French speaking side of Cameroon, so we had translators who didn’t quite understand our fast American English. The entire church was laughing when our translator said, I don’t quite get their words, I hope you did, to the church and then turns to us and says continue! We laughed and said a few more words before politely giving the mic back. I’m glad that neither of us was uptight and since both of us have perfectionist tendencies, I think this was a good way to start the trip. We are sooooooo NOT in control. I can honestly say that both of us are o.k. with it.

We had a short tour of the city after a nap that was much too long this afternoon. We then spent some time with the ministry that we are partnering with discussing strategy and future ministry goals. This partnership is truly a Divine Connection and I am very excited to see where God will be taking us in the future.

Dinner was marvelous and afterward, we ended up having some impromptu worship in the living room with our new friends. One gentlemen came over just to worship and it was awesome.

Tomorrow begins another day in the office and finding out the working of the ministry here and how we may be able to work together. I plan on bringing my AIM team in June here to work and I can already see some of the benefits of working together to bring God’s Kingdom here on earth. It’s been a wild ride and I can’t wait to go around the next bend of the roller coaster.
God is already opening so many doors and has surprised us with so much!

Through all the drama and the anxiety that came at the beginning of the trip, I can see the hand of the Lord at work. We are walking out Psalms 62:8 – Trust in Him at all times ye people, pour out your heart before Him, He is a refuge for us.

Do I really have to come back to the states???
